In these violin sonatas (Harmonia Mundi. Andrew Manze: violin, Richard Egarr: harpsichord.) Handel's andantes are introspective, sometimes a little sad but never sentimental like a few violin-adagios from Bach. The allegros are vivid and catch the ear but never show off like some allegros from Vivaldi.
This recording is a well-balanced musical offering that never starts boring. If you love the organ concertos by Handel you will also love this violin music.
