General Comments

I Bought this Philips 24PW6407 as I wanted a widescreen tv to replace my defunct Panasonic 4:3 Nicam TV that would also fit inside my TV cabinet. Really wanted another Panasonic, but their set was a wee bit too big.

The Philips looks great and the pure flat tube gives excellent picture quality. However, the sound hasn't a patch on my old Panasonic set, which despite its small size delivered deep bass and sparkling treble. I have had to put the bass and treble settings to near max on the Philips and it still can't cut it.

Add to this an intermittent hissing sound from the tube and then an annoying drone which recently started to accompany the dialogue, especially when I play DVD's and videos and I thank God that my set came with a 5 year warranty thrown in.

No, on balance I wouldn't buy this set again, I'd just wait until Panasonic made one small enough to fit my TV cabinet! My old Panasonic set lasted 7 years with no trouble in that time. I rest my case.
