I joined nPower when they were the cheapest supplier (just after deregulation) about 5 years ago. They were called Northern Electric and Gas and struggled to cope with the influx of new customers. They have improved, but I still found one of my dual fuel accounts had the wrong house name on it despite contacting them on numerous occasions. Recently, I realised that they had put their prices up so that they were no longer the cheapest. I shopped around and found a company that is considerably cheaper for both gas & electric. I'm waiting for the switch over process to complete and then I'll let you know how the new supplier shapes up (by the way, the new supplier doesn't list with uSwitch and beat the cheapest supplier they could find by quite a margin).

Just a quick update on my review - the company I switched to was Telecomplus and I've had no problems at all with them since switching over 9 months ago. Customer service seems good and the bills arrive monthly (which I prefer to quarterly).
