Good Points

Best bang for the buck sports car IMHO. More worthy of the title than the 215 WRX. Very traditional sportscar look with the grunt to match.

Bad Points

A strict 2+2. Gearbox not very slick and extremely noisy. Vibration from the 4-pot transfered to the cabin.

General Comments

The Nissan 200SX is the last of the traditional rear-wheel drive Japanese sports car that appeared in the late 80s. A very revving turbo-charged engine on a small and light body gives it good performance. Rear-wheel driven enables power-steering. 6-speed gearbox is noisy and unrefined, but gives good ratios for both acceleration and cruising. Very frugal compared to other high performance machines. Killer looks. Chassis is stiff and body movements is well-controlled. Ride is hard but never too uncomfortable due to strong chassis. Engine extremely easy to modify to extract more grunt. Cabin room is tight and definitely a 2+2, no more. Boot space is acceptable. Build quality is good considering the price.

Right on the money! :) I have been the proud owner of my S15 for just on one year, and all of your comments ring true. agree with the noisey gear box, but this is only noticeable if you pay particular attention to it. Definitely can't be heard if the stereo is on, at any volume. Great car, great price and great fun to drive.

Great value, good performance, great handling and dead simple to extract more power from. As for the gear box, it is a little noisy, but as a previous post says you have to be listening for it. And the fact that there is a ratio for every occasion more than makes up for it!!
