Good Points

The Gamo Hunter 890 is a great air rifle. It's not real heavy, it's extremely accurate, and it's very quiet. It's so accurate I was shooting about a quarter of an inch groups at 30 yards using daisy steel tipped power pellets. Oh and did I talk about power I shot an opossum in the head two times using rws hollow points and killed it. This is one nice gun and only 240 bucks, that's right 240 bucks! To top it all off it even comes with a 3-12power 44mm. bsa scope, scope rings, scope mount, and scope stop.

Bad Points

The only thing I don't like about this air rifle is it has quite a jump to it, but it doesn't take long to get used to it.

General Comments

The hunter 890 is a great air rifle. It's not real heavy, it's extremely accurate, and it's very quiet. It's so accurate I was shooting about a quarter inch groups at thirty yards using daisy steel tipped power pellets. This is an awesome squirrel gun. I was shooting squirrels in the head with this air rifle up to about 45 yards. Oh and talk about power I shot an opossum in the head two times using rws hollow points with this air rifle and killed it. This is one nice air rifle and it only cost 240 bucks - that's right 240 bucks! To top it all off it even comes with a bsa a 3-12 power 44mm. scope, scope rings, scope mount, and scope stop. If you purchase this air rifle, especially to hunt squirrel and rabbit or target practice with, I guarantee that you won't be disappointed with it.

Just a question on the power of the 890 in .177cal ,what distance are you taking rabbits with consistently and how do you find the trajectory in this calibre out to say 45yds. Thanks for your help as im shopping around at the moment but this rifle has definately caught my attention oh yeah do you think a .22cal might be better?steve......

This rifle has caught my eye as well but do you think the .22 model would be better or worse for small game hunting?

Where did you get it for $240? I've only found it as low as $250.

I'm looking for a solid hunting rifle, specifically for squirrels. I have a $300 budget and have narrowed my choices down to the Gamo 890 and the black shadow hunter. Both velocities are around 1000 fps in .177, which is enough for squirrels, but I'm wondering if I should be looking for a .22.

I'm looking for a solid squirrel rifle. I have narrowed my seletions down to the Gamo 890 and the black shadow hunter. Which would you suggest. Would you suggest a .22 caliber or maybe even a different make.

I recently bought the Silver Shadow Supreme with the 4X12 50mm scope. I am not a great shot but right out the box and after about 30 shots to zero i was getting 1/2-1 inch groups at thirty meters. I looked alot held alot and researched. for the money it is quite accurate the scope is awesome and it is really light. i live in the northwest where it rains alot. the nickel plated barrel and synthetic stock hopefully will hold up better.
