After hiding in the shadows throughout overlooked albums "Songs about Polar bears" and "When its all over we have to clear up", Snow Patrol have finally been recognised for their tasteful approach to indie music, and entertained us with their debut album, "Final Straw", including the debut singles, "Run" and "Spitting Games". Final Straw gives a generous helping of an example of today's best indie music, displaying both sensitive and unsympathetic faces. Although it may be necessary to listen repeatedly to this album until it sinks in, it is constantly fulfilling. Beginning with the likes of songs such as "Wow", the tracks gradually become mellower, concluding with "Somewhere a clock is ticking" and "Same". Snow Patrol is now a significant part to the indie music flow. This album is perhaps the jump to their career they needed, as it appears Snow Patrol has more to offer than first expected. Although there is a danger that they may develop into a more mainstream manner, Gary Lightbody's distinctive vocals and lyrics allow this to be a perceptive and inspiring album, which deserves to be noted.
