General Comments

I have owned a Ford Escort RS Turbo for two years and never regretted buying it. I got it near enough standard and have since added: hearts & diamonds brain, T3 hybrid, wired in 5th injector, full stainless and cone filter, uprated actuator, dump valve, and vernier pulley. this is enough to give it a healthy 200-odd bhp.

Body wise, it is a grey 90 spec example, the only mods being clear indicators, smoked rears and 1/2 leather recaros. To look at, I reckon it looks so much better than other 80s hatches, It just oozez grunt. Obviously the interior is better than it's rivals (recaros), but the reason people buy these is for one reason: power! yes, 205s might handle better, and renault turbos might accelerate slightly quicker but RS turbos are made for grunt and once your out of first gear there aint many R5s that can sit with you.

My Escort quite happily canes astra 16 valvers and Civic type Rs, and has been known to keep up with the odd scooby. The best bit though is that there are parts everywhere, thats the beauty of owning a ford. All modifications on mine ive done myself, using parts that ive picked up for next to nothing. Basically if you want a pokey hot hatch from the 80s then the classic Escort RS turbo is the one to have.

    I should be in s end this saturday so will keep my eyes peeled for a nice looking grey rst!
    Good to hear your keeping a good less show and more go approach unlike some of those morons in there vtr's with so much rubbish hanging off it- understated is the way forward!
    Old school is still the best!
