Nice features. Nothing special. Timer features well thought out.
CD sound has a bad hiss during playback. Although hiss level does not change, at lower volume VERY noticeable. A fault not expected from a SONY product.
I bought my Sony CMT-EP707 system for a reasonably low amount ($150) but thought it would sound better than it did. At only 15 watts/channel, the sound wasn't bad until I played a CD. The hiss was prohibitive at lower levels. Something I would not expect from SONY. So, I exchanged it for a SHARP XL-HP500 and was I surprised. At $20 less it had far superior sound and absolutely no hiss in exactly the same configuration as the SONY. At 50 watts/channel a much richer sound flowed from the SHARP system.
