Incredibly accurate and powerful, fantastic trigger and a very nice stock

Bad Points

Damn heavy.

General Comments

In my opinion this weihrauch HW 97K is the best spring gun available on the market. The stock is very nice, it has a built-on silencer and I can shoot a 1 inch group at around 35-40 yards, and I know if one goes stray it was my fault, not the gun's. Anything which can go straight through a rabbit from 30 yards away has got to be worth buying. I find accupells work very well in it and the only criticism I have is the weight. I'm not heavily built and I struggle to shoot accurately from standing. However, it's not too bad a problem. I once fired it dry by accident and it made a really cool sound (don't test this!)

    Interesting review,177 or 22?

  • rich. on 23rd Aug 2002

i got the .177, i have never had to judge for holdover at all with a 3-9 x 40 simmons scope.

    Hello Rich
Re you scope on the HK97K, I would like to kindly ask you if its supported on a 1 pc mount or a 2 pc system. I have been told that to avoid damage to my scope I should best mount it on a Dampa 1 pc mount.

What's your expereince with this setup.

    Would appreciate your comments.
    Best Regards
    Eric

Hi, I have used a two piece, double screw mount without any problem. I have a friend who insists that his 1 piece mount is much better, but in my experience, and from what I have seen on both our guns, there is no need for it. My mounts have an arrestor stud (promounts) and have never shifted after thousands of shots. DO NOT buy cheap, single screw mounts though, they just slide around and chew up the scope rails, guaranteed.
    Hope that helped

I have 1 pc mounts on my 97, holding a Tasco Varmit 6-24. buy the best mounts you can afford otherwise the true accuracy of the gun and scope will go to waste

These guns do not have a built in silencer. The thing on the end of the barrel you are speaking of is a barrel weight.

  • Rich. on 21st Jan 2003

    Sorry mate, it's a silencer

  • Skifmark. on 9th Jul 2003

The thing on the end of the HW97K is actually a Muzzle Weight and not a silencer (it says it on the companies website.) This gun is brilliant but if you realy want a rifle with the same quality, accuracy and ease of use but also has a built in silencer, go for the Air Arms TX200 MK3 or Hunter Carbine. However the HC does not come with a silencer built in it has a threaded insert at the end allowing you to fit a silencer with a male adapter.

it is acctually a silencer, it is full of baffles inside. I think you are getting confused with the earlier longer barreled model. Also without it on it is far far louder.

    Yep its a silencer......
