guide plus useless with a Sky Pace box

General Comments

Do not buy this Philips DVD R80 DVD Recorder if you have Sky Digital and a Pace satelite box. The are "unsupported" but they don't tell you that until you can't get guide plus to work!

what a let down.

Philips are going to go down the plug hole if they keep messing up like this.

I have Sky Digital and a first generation Pace box and the system works as it should. Excellent recorder!

I have a NTL pace box, and on my 4 telephone conversation with Phlips I have now been told that the Guide plus does not work with NTL, its something they are looking into.

See www.redremote.co.uk/dvdr80.html for info on setting up GuidePlus with NTL and Telwest STBs.

Been though everything, the redeye lead is so the DVD can change the channels over on the NTL box. But you have to get the guide plus to recognise the NTL first, which is something Philips have told me they are looking into it. Just downloaded a new firmware (05/04/04) hopefully its fixed.

I disagree, I have a SKY Digital PACE box and this recorder works with no problems. You can update the firmware on the drive, visit the Philips website and go to the DVD recorder product page, you'll see instructions and downloads to update the firmware, which I have done 3 times now. Though I had no problem with the PACE box prior to these upgrades either.
