General Comments
i run these speakers on the surround channels of an aiwa system and i have the av120s on the main i know my main chanles are 150 watts each but im not sure about the surround channels but i know that these speakers are quite powerful at 100 watts each the good thing is that they are the same bass driver as the av120 so i know they will be able to take the power if i wanted them to the only difference they are a book shelf version of the av120 and have one bass driver insted of two i love them as they are ideal for surround sound because they can keep up with the av120 they are great

How on earth can you seriously review a speaker when your reference it through an AIWA system? You would be better off plugging it into a £15 personal stereo as a benchmark.

Well, I've got a system in a dedicated sound room with a specially wired in mains supply with rf suppressing braided cable, a faraday cage and a mains supply regenerator as well as tweaked equipment worth around £4,000 at retail. I just sold my atc 20 monitors in the hope of upgrading to the bigger atc 35 floorstanders, meanwhile I went out and bought some £20 acoustic solutions speakers from Argos. I'm happier running these than other models I've heard costing £200 a pair.
They let more music through than you'd imagine. So I'm a fan of acoustic solutions speakers. They've got bass, a clean treble and a seamless freq response with no horrid shrill treble like the wharfdale 8.1 diamonds I bought yesterday. The wharfes are going on ebay and the solutions are staying.

Cheapo systems can sound good, though obviously it's not going to be as good as if you've spent £9000. The important point is on mini systems the speakers are always the weakest link, with heaps of plastic and huge horrible paper drivers, because this turns on the average mini system buyer. Replacing the speakers with something better will improve the sound more than using a good system with rubbish speakers.
But if you buy some half decent speakers then you might as well start upgrading the rest of your system to separates because for the same money as a mini system you can get something better.

Good review! Oh and a word for "Aido" I have access to my friends Hifi Which consists of serious equiptment £9000 worth to be precise. Now in my front room I run an Aiwa nsx-r50 with an active subwoofer original speakers and a pair of "cheap" bookshelf speakers to define the treble. I would say my Aiwa doesn't match my friends setup but he has been round my house on several occasions and said my system sounds awesome. Now this may or may not be true in your case but some people become gear heads and all they are interested in is looking at hifi gear and how much it costs. REMEBER hifi is about sound quality not badges on equiptment. Cheap systems set up properly can ROCK..... sadly some people wear nike trainers because they have a tick on the side and sportstars wear them I wonder if this is true of some people in hifi.
