Brian.'s review of Ford Galaxy 2.3 Ghia

★★★★☆

“In view of the attitude of both Ford warranty staff &...”

Good Points
I have a 2.3 petrol LX. I have had the car for nearly three months after buying it new. Overall I would rate the vehicle very highly although there are a number of parts I think could be greatly improved. But that could be said about any car.

Bad Points
Warranty. Ford seems eager to avoid paying out on its warranty in certain circumstances and does not have a properly set up investigation process for disputes. They will only honour the warranty if a Ford garage employee says it is a warranty item. In cases of dispute there should be a independent assessor. In my case I attempted to adjust one of the wing mirrors and it broke at the base. When I took it to my local Ford dealer (Vospers, Plymouth. The vehicle inspector just looked at it & said these do not break without being hit very hard. I pointed out I was present when it broke and there was no damage whatsoever to either the mirror casing or glass which would obviously been present if it had been hit with force. The base had just sheared off. He did not even bother to take the mirror apart to see what might have caused it. His view was it could not happen without being hit be force & therefore accused me of being a liar. He also stated that if he were to authorize a repair Ford would not repay his company because they dont accept they can break, which leads me to think this is not the first time this has happened andthey have been issued with advice not to accept claims. Needless to this will be going to court unless I get satisfaction and I will never buy another Ford.

General Comments
In view of the attitude of both Ford warranty staff & its obvious policy and that of their dealers I will never buy another Ford.

I have a 1999 Galaxy. I do high mileage in it each year and rate it very highly. I was driving at below 40 MPH and a pidgeon flew past my car clipping he driver door mirror. It dropped off and cost £250 to repair. I had to drive round London rush hour with a mirror hanging off by the wiring.
<br>Also, I have a dented wing. would anyone know if the driver wing unbolts or is there any welding / bonding involved. If they do bolt off where can I buy one from?
