General Comments
Recently bought one of these TV's and have to say how disappointed I am with it.
Main gripe I guess is with poor convergence - the image bends in at both sides at the top of the picture, more noticeable on 4:3 and 14:9 ratios.
Also there seems to be very little beam limiting present - when there are sudden changes in contrast or image is changing from light to dark, then the shape of the screen image changes and bends. Again this is more noticeable on 4:3 and 14:9 when you have the edge of the screen as a reference. Saying this though, I popped into my local store and found that most tv's do this no matter what size, shape or make! It's very noticable on pop videos, esp. ones with strobe effects... if you watch a music channel, you'll see the on screen logos and graphics move, as well as the screen shape if on a 'square-er' ratio.
Other annoying thing is that you can't switch off the 100hz feature, which would have been useful for watching sport and digital channels with lower bandwidth.
My particular set also has an really annoying loud buzz - sounds like the transformer or something, and the cabinet looks a little out of shape near the corners of the screen - something I've seen on display models.
Otherwise the TV is fine!?!? The picture looks good using DVD's and you have 3 scarts so you can stick everything in. The large fast text memory is good and the handset has useful features too - esp. if you have other Sony products.
It's just a shame about the bad points!
This TV's off back to the supplier me thinks!!! :(

'Rajy baby', Tricky one really. In principle and on paper the TV is really good. The main problem really is the way the screen changes shape and size in different contrast conditions. It is really noticable watching things like TOTP or MTV where there is a quick change in contrast all the time, say, when lights shine into the camera and then away. Friends and family who came around also noticed it, so I guess it wasn't exactly a slight problem. I've also noticed the same effect on most 32" 100hz TV's I've seen, and that's why I haven't bought a replacement yet. I was really wanting to keep the TV due to the brand and its features, but I did send it back. I personally would be tempted by the curtains (!), but if you do choose to buy the TV, it might be worth getting the delivery people to take the TV out of the box outside and then try to bring it in. The company I got mine from (not Currys but starts with C) managed to damage the shadow mask inside while they were literally rolling it/forcing it into the house. I can't recommend the TV personally.. just from my experiences, but just have a really good long look yourself in the shop and see what you think. Hope that helps!

I hear what you say, but with respect, I fear you are being perhaps too over critical. It looked pretty good at Powerhouse, who have got a really good deal: TV KV-32LS60 + Cabinet Video: SLV-SE720GS DVD: Not Sure Cinema System: DAS-S400 + 5 films + free delivery I'm very tempted. Having a tough time trying to persuade my wife that this system is more of an essential item than her 'stooopid' Laura Ashley curtains that she wants to buy for our new place. The setup looked very cool at the store, so tell me now if you think I'm making a big mistake. I'm going to make the purchase on Thurs 24 Oct 2002 (My day off). Will it be this new system? or will it be the curtains? ... Look forward to hearing from you. Ta.
