Excellent Video and Audio Quality.
A little slow. No discrete On/Off IR codes.
The Yamaha DVD-S520 DVD player has excellent Video and Audio qualities. I am running mine through a Yamaha RX-V1200 amp and Definitive Technology Speakers (ProMonitor 100s, PC2 Center and ProSub 100) with a 36" Sony TV (not HD). Picture quality and CD sound reproduction are equally amazing. The DVD-S520 plays "burned" CDs effortlessly. They advertise MP3 playback, but I have not tested this yet.
The only drawbacks are:
1.The DVD reaction/reading time is a little slow.
2.The DVD apparently does not have discrete On/Off IR codes. If you use a programmable remote, such as the Phillips Pronto, you will have to program around this fact.
