Good Points
Economical, Quick for a standard diesel, handles fantastically
Bad Points
Difficult to work on, lethally slow acceleration up hills, low MPG under high revs
General Comments
I've owned my J reg 1.8 Peugeot 205 Diesel Style for 3.5 years and it now has over 160,000 on the clock. The first engine lasted until 125,000 despite pulling big trailers with the old owner and being passed to me with almost no oil in the sump. The second engine cost £500 including work and is reconditioned so runs a hell of a lot better than the old knackered one. 0-60 in about 10.5 seconds (on the flat) and can manage over 60mpg (good considering I'm a student with no income). Great fun to drive, despite diesel engine, and after about £3000 of work over the 3 years of ownership it has just passed its MOT without needing work! If you buy one, open the coolant tank and start the engine, if vapour comes out THE ENGINE IS CRACKED - do not buy, or chop £500 off the price. Mine was trashed when I bought it, no lights, brakes, broken alternator and tired engine.
