“The Ibanez Pgm3 is the cheapest in its range. I would...”

Good Points
24 frets, Edge III bridge tremolo system, insanely low action and a standard RG body, this guitar is FAST. For shredders out there this guitar has been built perfectly for you. 2 humbuckers and a single coil makes the guitar versatile even though it lacks any tone knobs. Don't be fooled that with only one volume knob this guitar can't go far. The truth is, that with one volume knob only there is less resistance between the pickup and the output. This means that you get the full and pure tone from the pickups. Also players worry about the ability for the guitar with a floyd rose style tremolo system bridge to stay in tune. Ibanez has done a good job with the Edge III bridge and so far, it has hardly gone out of tune.

Bad Points
Unfortunately, the pgm comes with ibanez infinity 1 and 2 pickups. They are a let down to a guitar with so fine features. The output of the pickups are just mild and fairly strong. And the sustain lets it down also when playing with little gain. You still can play great music with it but you will realise that many other pickups will sound better than these. It is playable but will not be able to pack such a punch that the Gibson Les Pauls do. The single coil isn't very impressive either so the sound quality of the pgm3 is its weak link.

General Comments
The Ibanez Pgm3 is the cheapest in its range. I would recommend this guitar for those who idolise Paul Gilbert and are shredders wannabe. It would be a wise move to change its pickups to one of your choice in the future. Overall this guitar is a no frills and a decent guitar, especially for its price.
