“Needs some changes”

Nice enough hotel, lovely reception area. De-luxe room was really large with large balcony and a side sea view. 2 very nice pools with very good pool bar, excellent service by the staff and good snacks. Down side is that there is only one small bar serving drinks in the evening (pool bar shuts) plus there can be a very long queue. If you are sitting in the reception area you have to go down 2 flights to get to the bar, so requires another bar area somewhere. Buffet area is very tight on space and feels dangerous when carrying bowls of hot soup and trying not to bump into people. Food was ok, desserts were fabulous though. Lovely island and will go back in a couple of years but will find a hotel nearer Funchal. There is a curtesy bus from hotel which is very good but it stops running by 6.30 pm. So to go into Funchal for the evening you have to get the local bus or a cab..
