Two days before the bike was to be shipped to France for the Marmot, it developed a huge creak on the crank. Rang Evans from the peaks, they agreed to see what they could do and after assessing whether they had the appropriate part, asked me to bring the bike in.
I did so and within an hour, problem solved (even though they were obviously busy) instead of replacing crank, they simply replaced cracked bearing and whilst giving it a look over, spotted that, at my last service, NOT BY EVANS, a spacer had been left off, on the back wheel, which was producing a rattle, and which I had wrongly attributed to the crank fault, they amended the length of my chain.
All done in an hour and thanks to their professional attitude, not only did the bike get round the Marmotte, but by spotting the issue with the spacer, they assured safe descents (well as any decent that i personally make can be called safe). all in all, 20 out of 10 for the boys and girls at Evans Deansgate Manchester
