“stay clear of mapfre”

i took travel insurance with allclear and found out it was underwritten by MAPFRE insurance they are a big spanish firm with offices all over the world, they own avanti and traveltoad and insure and go ,
i was on holiday in greece when i was taken really ill with pneumonia and admited to hospital , where no one spoke english and the nurses only liked greek patients, and it was dirty,my wife phoned mapfre and told them and in the policy they say they get english doctors or translators , nope they didnt and would not get me home to english hospital, i lost 11 days holiday in the end , they got me to sign a letter to give permission to view my medical records on day 3 in hospital ,my doc said i could fly home on normal flight 10 days later , np i was ok with that mapfre sdt me to there doc who sad i could not fly unless doctor came with me for oxygen , up until then i had paid £600 out , on the day i was due to leave they said you cant fly but we have not established cover for you yet that was 10 days since i signed, they gave me a choice stay and pay for hotel and new flights until i was fit and if and when they decided i was covered i could claim it back , i told them i could not afford to do this, they said if you dont you will have to fly home on normal flight but if anything bad happend my insurance would be void,
so they put the phone down and in reality they left me stranded in greece, im in a wheelchair with my wife and luggage not enough money, so i had no choice but to fly home , mapfre did not contact me for 48 hrs asking where i was , i said you dont know ? they said no , they didnt care , i told them i was home they dsaid they was happy i was ok and still did not have a cover dessision 48 hrs after that they phoned to say i was covered 14 days after i signed my waver form ,good news he said you can claim your expenses back , good news for you i said you saved yourselves about 6k by not bringing me home later with a doctor as you dr wanted.

so i just put a claim in for 2k for expenses and 11 days loat holiday , mapfre use reactive claim to deal with all claims they did my claim in 3 hours and said i was entitled to £220 i appealed and 3 hrs later told sorry its the same we cant help anymore phone mapfre so now i have 2 complaints logged with them and am not holding my breath , please dont use this firm unless you want depression like me . or one of there many companies .
