I had a full month ofl leave to take in January/February this year. I'd visited Zambia & South Africa in 2016 with kuoni and went to them with confidence in arranging travel to Namibia and South Africa this year.
The Namibia element was a bit of a gamble - I'd done some research and knew that the wet season wouldn't be best for game viewing. However, it turned out to be an amazing experience in this understated destination. Kuoni had an itinerary that ideally suited an independent traveller - minimum support needed while there but I wanted absolute confidence in quality of accommodation and flight arrangements. I got precisely that. It left me to enjoy the challenge of navigating my way around the Namibian gravel road network without any worry that the next stopover would be less enjoyable than the last. Everything was as promised - no exaggeration or false claims. The country is stunning and the people I met were accommodating, friendly and helpful. I hope this was because of my attitude to them - I felt it a privilege to be able to share their country for a brief period and told them so.
Sighting game was opportunistic, as expected. This made it all the more valuable and memorable. My photographs help to relive the experience.
The second half of my holiday was back in South Africa - revisiting the western cape, mostly. Kuoni were happy to arrange flights around my own arrangements (I booked my own accommodation mostly). Everything went without a hitch - 3 x car hires, 7 flights, 16 places to stay (I booked 5 of these myself).
Best thing was speed of booking - I knew what I wanted in mid-December and I flew out on January 20th. No issues at all!
