I have banked with Santander for over 8 years now and up until now I have had no problems other than ridiculous charges for overdrafts, unpaid DD etc. which to be fair, partly my own fault. However when you have a large sum of money due in (£15000) which would sort your financial situation out and stop the charges you would think your bank would help you out but they haven't. For months we have been trying to get this money in our bank and have presumed that its always been the senders fault so we tried different ways of sending it in, BACS, Faster payments, and finally CHAPS yet still after waiting 10days for a CHAPS payment to clear we didn't get it. So much conflicting information from the bank as well, sometimes they said it was waiting to clear, other times they said they couldn't see it there. I have been so stressed and brought to tears on the phone by this bank that in the end I have decided to open up a new bank account! Funnily enough the money has been accepted and is ready to clear on Monday (paid on Thursday)! I don't understand why Santander didn't want my £15000 but tough luck now. Please don't use this bank for large sums of money or transfers. They wont get it right and even the information on their website is incorrect. Complaints dpt. weren't helpful at all so now we have complained to the Ombudsman and even they said they have had a lot of similar complaints for Santander. Shocking service in general and as for customer services and complaints dpt. they are not worth the time spent talking to them. Go somewhere else for your banking needs!
