When I worked in a previous company, any staff submitting expenses claims for mielage were required to use The AA Route Planner to calculate the recommended route, and it was on that route that expenses were calculated and ultimately paid.
Since then I've used The AA Route Planner for my own mileage claims. Although I have Microsoft AutoRoute 2005 on my PC I prefer to have a "double-check" of any route I plan at home, especially as The AA is inevitably going to be more up-to-date, especially with traffic blackspots, which CD-rom based computer software will never be able to replicate with enough accuracy to be of any use.
