“Having cruised with several cruise lines we were lead...”

Written on: 24/04/2011

Having cruised with several cruise lines we were lead to believe that Holland America was the best. We sailed on the Statendam and we thought the ship was tired and worse for wear. It was clean but had signs of age with corroded metal around some of the window frames. Wardrobe doors in our cabin were hanging off. The staff were very good and extremelly helpful and polite. The food was ok, nothing amazing. The entertainment was not very good. We found it quite amateurish and boring but given the average age of the ships passengers being about 70 yrs they may of found it more interesting. The passengers mostly american, many with zimmer frames and electric wheel chairs. We are in our fifties and felt out of place. Our aim was to go throught the Panama canal which was amazing.
