“Bought by availability of size on hand. The old HJC...”

written by ronbaker on 22/07/2008

Good Points
Quiet, stable, comfortable. I paid $400 no taxes to a vendor at the BMW rally in Gillette.

Bad Points
Shield fogs. Chin vent seems ineffective, could have used a molded a molded piece of rubber over the nose maybe, but maybe not. The little black lever on the left side of the helmet doesn't lift the shield a notch to provide venting, so I'm still learning how to ease the visor up a wee bit.

General Comments
Bought by availability of size on hand. The old HJC Symax was triple X and I'd had to sandpaper away a wee bit of styrofoam to fit the point on my head. This new Shoei is a double X and fits well except for the nose coverage issue. The chin cover curtain seems to help by keeping turbulence out of the helmet, and its' easy to get used to. I rode from the BMW rally in Wyoming, 2 days and 950 miles with the old HJC Symax bungeed on the back. Rode home much faster than a few weeks earlier, thus the increased gas consumption. I'm probably more likely for performance award citations too.
