'My chocolate' workshops are quite possibly the biggest rip-off I've ever experienced! We paid almost £600 to play with 3 bowls of melted chocolate between 12 of us. This is something I would do with my children as there is absolutely no skill involved whatsoever. If you've made chocolate rice crispy cakes before then you're already at the same level as the instructor.
There is no 50s retro kitchen. It's a tiny room in the basement of a semi industrial building. The breeze-block walls are painted pastel green and there are some kitsch touches here and there, but all in all it's pretty grim.
The 'master chocolatier (Lol!) regurgitated some facts about the history of chocolate that could have been lifted from wikipedia and couldn't answer our questions. It also took her so long she was then rushing us at the end and making us bag truffles that hadn't even set yet.
It wouldn't take much to make this a more enjoyable experience e.g. more ingredients, more equipment, nicer premises, lower price. As it stands however, you would be mad to waste the money. Book a cocktail masterclass instead!
