“Call of Duty 4 is definitely one of the best (if not...”

Call of Duty 4 is definitely one of the best (if not the best) games for any of the platforms it is on. I have the X-BOX 360 version, however other than the controls all the versions should be the same. With the amount of controls in the game, it would normally seem complicated, but activision/infantary ward has made sure the controls worked smoothly. It is safe to say that the graphics are stunning; on a HD LCD TV, on the 1080p setting, the graphics can look real, (or even better than real). Also make sure you crank up the volume, this sounds like real warfare, everything from the guns to the voice acting to vehicle sounds, is some of the best work on any war game. Obviously, what any game is truly about is gameplay, absolutely brilliant. It's just so amazing, it goes beyond anything I've seen or played before. In the Campaign, the story begins with the player assuming the role of SAS recruit Soap MacTavish, (occasionally other characters are available), trying to fight against terrorists, and leads into bigger things as the story progresses. Everything happens so fast; the action ties in well with the epic story. The single player is amazing but no where a brilliant as the multiplayer, which can be played 1-4 players offline (on the same console), 2 - 24 System Link (only for X-BOX 360) and 2 - 18 Online. There are many exiting modes, including some hardcore modes, which are more difficult versions of other modes. And as well as getting achievements (X-BOX 360), you can gain levels to get more things and activate prestige mode to become a more respected player. In addition there is an arcade mode for multiplayer practice, and just for fun.

There's no bad points, but something minor. Something that could be added into the next game Call of Duty 6: Modern Warfare 2, and that vehicles being fully playable, like in Call of Duty 5.

I think that this is probably a game for everyone, it has various difficulties, has a brilliant single player, and fun arcade mode, and an unbelievably brilliant multiplayer. There's so many people online, even now, 2 years after release (roughly, the game was made in 2007, this review was written in 2009), if you don't own it, buy a compatible console (PS3/X-Box 360/PC), it is more than just highly recommended and not just by me almost everyone else, this is a must have game.
