was just thinking of replacing my Karrimor KSB s, which are over a decade old. Really saddened to read all these negative reviews. My old pair are goretex lined and have never leaked. They were all I wore for three months trekking in Nepal and have served as wellies at every glastonbury since 2006 and the only water ever in them has been sweat. I've taken them on dartmoor, to wales and on a million trudges through long wet grass (which has always served to soak all other boots I've had. Not one stitch is out of place, although- obviously- they now look rubbish with all the suede matted. They've never given me a blister and are light enough to run in.
Karrimor need to sort this out. They've lost the edge on what was a great product. Maybe eVent is to blame? I've heard bad things about its durability in jackets (although everybody says it wees on goretex for breathability). I'm sticking to the tried and tested membranes for now.
and I don't take the comments about value. A boot either is or is not waterproof. I've had goretex lined Adidas sneaks that were the same price as the non goretex lined model and were waterproof: any boot that claims to be, should be.
