Good Points

Bad Points
Does not produce ice as advertised. Undisclosed loop whole in 1 year warranty not stated til product is delivered and you read product broucher they only cover the shipping for the 1st 2 months then all shipping costs are on you. From SC it costs $62.00 1 way. Very rude and uncaring customer rep at Whynter. No attempt to try and help let alone care about making a happy customer.

General Comments
Advertised in broucher to produce 26 lbs of ice in 24 hr. Mine didn't produce 26 lbs total or even close to that in 7 days running constantly. Ice ready in 10 min according to ads on line, book says every 8 min. After 4 hours I got 1/2 cup of saved ice. I averaged 88 cubes every 4 hours which barely over flowed a 2 cup measuring cup. Ice is less than 1 inch long and hollow. It started melting as soon as it hit the glass, melts extremely fast. Tried to save ice for 4 days for a birthday dinner. Due to the fast melting it froze together in freezer. Should have produced around 100 lbs of ice what a joke, I had to go buy ice. Unit suppose to shut off once bin is full, it ran constantly for the 7 days I had it. After 2 calls to store, 2 to the company then sent 2 lengthy faxes (which neither responded to) the only assurance I got was the threat of having to pay shipping if it was found to run properly. I paid an additional $98.00 for 5 year in home warranty. Which I called the warranty service only to be told they were not authorized to do repairs on any Whynter icemakers that even after warranty expired all repairs had to be done by the Whynter co. After 7 days I called for a return label again being told I would have to pay shipping both ways if unit worked to their satisfaction. 2 weeks after UPS had verified delivery to Whynter and no contact from them I called the store. AS expected the store said he got an email (6days prior) from Whynter stating the unit worked fine they ran 2 test unit made 44 cubes in 1 hr twice tested. And it made 190 full cubes over night. I don't beleive it. Even if it produced 190 cubes in 8-12 hrs. (overnight) 190 cubes wouldn't fill a 6 cup measuring cup. Anyway you do the math in no way could that add up to 26 lbs in 24 hours. End result was I was charged $98.00 for shipping and restocking and have no ice maker. I do not recommend this product or any product with the WHYNTER name. I have posted on other sights like shopping.msn, veiwpoints, bizrate, consumerreview and will continue to post anywhere I can find, to share my experience. Please check out my other reviews as i'm not to sure how much info this allows and theres more to tell. Thanks for taking the time to read this. Final suggestion. BUYER BE WARE!
