Hard sell to take out Goldcar's additional insurance and when not taken into paying for accidental damage not caused by yourself. In this instance the car had been involved in an accident prior to my rental period and upon returning the car I was blamed for the damage caused costing hundreds of pounds and I'm currently contesting this with video evidence taken at the start of the rental period. When I complained about the damage to the car before leaving at the pick up Goldcar staff just shrugged it off and asked that I mark any additional damage with a cross on the damage report form which turned out to be as useful as a chocolate teapot, luckily I took a video as evidence but can see that even with this I've got a fight on my hands and will never book Goldcar again. Had I been involved in an accident myself I would have made a claim against a third party insurance cover which covers excess payments but in this case it was caused before my rental period.
