“UPS: by far the worst courier company in the UK”

I use couriers all the time and UPS are the worst company - by a long way - that I've ever used. Here's why:

1. Their tracking system is pointless. Vague information and no tracking details even after the driver has collected the parcel. During this 'no man's land' time frame parcels can easily 'go missing'. You can wait up to six hours after collection before any details appear on the tracking.

2. No delivery timeslot. 'By end of day' often means waiting in all day only for the delivery to be sent out again the next day.

3. Hidden surcharges. UPS are known for charging you more for your parcel a week or two after sending. They have claimed thata parcels I have sent have been over the declared size. This is blatantly untrue.

4. Damage to parcels. I've wrapped important items in packaging that would survive a fair amount of abuse only to discover that UPS have managed to damage the contents. In some cases UPS would have to have dropped packages from about 12 feet to cause such damage.

There are much better couriers out there. Don't give your hard-earned money to UPS if you are at all concerned about loss or damage. UPS are simply awful, greedy and unreliable.
