General Comments
Hyosung XRX 125 is a four-stroke bike, in the very popular 125cc off-road bike class, and although it has a lot to live up to, like the Honda XLR 125 or the Yamaha XT 125R, it holds it's ground pretty good. Most people, I admit, me too, when first hear the brand "Hyosung", become very sceptical and say/think something like "Chineese crap...". But the fact is that Hyosung is actually a Korean company, and has really gotten much better at building motorcycles, because it's been at it for over 30 years. On to the bike itself:
The first impresion is that it's bigger than you'd expect a 125'er to be. I know a lot of people say this about 125'ers, but come on - It's almost as high as a motocross bike, and when you go down the road you feel like you're riding a real bike.
Then comes the sound. This is one of the things that just got me on this bike, the sound was awesome! The exhaust has got a few holes drilled in the silencer, but im not angry at the previous owner for doing that, Now the Hyosung sounds just like the KTM 450 4stroke my friend has!
Some say the suspension is too soft, but I really like it, i can just fly over bumps and holes in the ground, although someone heavier than 70-80kg should think about uprating it.
The engine is a healthy 4-valve, 4-stroke SOHC unit that cranks out 12HP, a copy of the engine used is 125cc Suzuki's. Actually, Hyosung makes both engines, so the Suzuki is a copy of the Hyosung one :) It can't race the two-stroke bikes, but is more than enough for a learner or nice off-roading.
After being used to the two-stroke gutless low-down power and high top-end, i was surprised to feel that the Hyosung pulls well through all the rev-range. It has enough torque to pull up steep slopes or cope with easy-medium offroad tracks.
Now the fuel economy, prepare to be amazed - It drinks 2-2,5 litres of petrol for a 100km! That's amazing, I didn't believe it at first, but it's true, you can run it on cents :) and it doesn't drink any oil, unlike the two-stroke friends.
I was happy to find that the plastics aren't painted red - they ARE red :) and are very bendy, so when i fell a few times in the sand, there was minimal or no damage at all :)
Overall, the Hyosung XRX125 is the perfect solution for those, that want a good, reliable, very cost efficient off-road bike and can't afford the Japaneese bikes. If you buy the XRX and look after it, you won't be dissapointed.
