Good Points
Sears-Craftsman has always been a manufacturer of reasonable quality hand tools, at an affordable price.
Bad Points
Sears-Craftsman no longer honors their "lifetime replacement guarantee" on any hand tool that has any rust on it. This essentially eliminates all tools from the guarantee, after a period of time, because all tools eventually rust to some degree. In my experience, they refused a ratchet with a jammed gear, and a Phillips head screwdriver with a worn head, due to cosmetic rust. The tools were being exchanged due to wear, not rust, but that doesn't seem to matter, if the item has rust on it they will not honor their guarantee.
General Comments
I sent a letter of complaint to Sears-Craftsman Hand Tools customer services, and received the same response - any tool with rust on it is not covered by the guarantee.
Since Sears-Craftsman has decided to modify their policy in such a way, I will no longer purchase from them.
there are other companies out there, who are well known, and more honorable about offering the same type of guarantees. shop around first.
