Good Points
Space, practicality, economy excellent owners club annual Ugly Bug Ball is a must!
Towing ability ease of maintenance.
Bad Points
Warts an all...can be problematic in numerous ways. Owners call them foibles. None are really dire but can become tiring with repetitiveness. Checkout the owners site and forum for good info. www.multiplaowners.co.uk
Here goes...
Front tracking...
drop links and anti roll bar
poor electrics
mass air flow sensors on diesels
EGR valves (Diesels)
Thermostats expensive and fail easy on diesels. Cars run cool
Very hot in summer due to all the glass so get an aircon ELX model not sx
Handbrake can freeze in winter
Electric mirrors fail
This makes them sound bad but I promise this is not as bad as you would expect. This is after four years of talking/mailing owners on the forum. Forums are only inhabited by people who need help...not who have no problems generally, SO IT IS A LITTLE BIASED IN A NEGATIVE WAY.
General Comments
Owned the car for nearly five years. Bought it at nearly three years old. Had most if not all the known regular problems. When they go wrong they are a pain like any car, but when they go right, fortunately most of the time, they are better than anything else like it on the road. When your used to the width thewy are easy to park being short, they tow well as the wheelsare at each corner and they sit squat to the road. Unlike normal people carriers thessuspension is firm so even fully laden road holding is excellent. One up some may think they are a little bumpy some may sporting....er, honest!
The commonest model is the 1.9 diesel which is very economical. The 1.6 petrol can be a bit revvy and less economical.
