I travelled to Vietnam and Cambodia with a school trip in 2007, so we literally wrote a cheque, gave them our passports and everything was done for us. Our school did VERY coddle us and we were quite sheltered from a lot of things, however, our tour guide, was absolutely fabulous! Our teachers hated her because she told us the truth about the countries and was a "bad influence" smoking and drinking in front of us etc.
She knew the areas so well and seemed to know the locals in the most random places! She was so friendly and would advise us what to do without being bossy or patronising, plus a big thumbs up to her for dealing with about 20 16 year olds, probably a horrible experience.
The areas we visited, Siem Reap, Phohm Pehn, Ho Chi Min City and Hoi An wrong spellings I know) were incredible, a fantastic mix, bustling streets of Saigon and the beach resort of Hoi An, she knew the area so well and although it was planned to a T, everything went sooooooo smoothly for a school trip.
We visited some amazing places such as the killing fields and Teul Sleng (Khmer Rouge prison).
Our tour guide really knew what she was talking about and even taught us some Khmer and Vietnamese, it was an amazing trip and at no point was the trip ever majorly physically demanding or strenuous.
We went for just under 2 weeks and it was the most amazing holiday I have ever been on!
Would definitely recommend Intrepid and am planning on travelling with them in the summer to go overlanding in Africa.
