“Made with Oats instead of wheat, I thought I would...”

written by Helen of Troy on 04/09/2006

Good Points
100% wholegrain oats. High in fibre. Oats can help reduce cholesterol. Doesn't go soggy as quickly as Weetabix. Tastes great!

General Comments
Made with Oats instead of wheat, I thought I would give these a try instead of our usual wheat biscuits or Weetabix. First impression, looks very similar, just a little lighter and more golden in colour. In the bowl they go! Pour on some milk, sprinkle with a little sugar. First spoonful- feels a little firmer than Weetabix. The taste experience- VERY NICE! A little milder in taste, easy to masticate, very slightly heavier in texture. My 8yr old was reluctant, the only cereal he will eat normally is Weetabix/Tesco Wheat biscuits. Finally he asked to try it! He thought it tasted just like Weetabix, only better!! That sounds like a great description of Oatibix to me! Now he wants it all the time! To be honest I prefer it too!
