Good Points
Simply brilliant. The best attraction in the country? The concept is excellent and as far as I know unique.
Bad Points
Can suffer from crowds, especially if a school trip is there. Also lots of people don't shut the doors and gates. Many of them are supposed to be one way! It is also largely not accessible by wheelchairs or pushchairs, but that is the nature of the place.
General Comments
We first went to The Forbidden Corner 4 years ago when my son was just 2, and we have been itching to go back since. On return it was just as brilliant as we remembered it. You wander around the garden, which is maze-like and it comprises different areas, including castle walls and underground tunnels, looking for things listed on the guide as pictures or riddles. A fair bit has been added since we first went, and it looks like they are adding even more. If you like mazes, fantasy and searching for clues, you will love this at any age.
It takes up about half a day. We were there for a good 4 hours or more, although I think others don't stay nearly so long.
It opens at 12 during the week, 10 at weekends, and closes at 6. you can't just turn up, but you can phone for a ticket, or go to Leyburn Tourist Information, or the grocery shop in Middleham.
