“I used to have relatively bad acne as a teenager, that...”

written by on 01/03/2011

I used to have relatively bad acne as a teenager, that I got rid of thanks to antibiotics. 10 years later though I started to break out again.

I bought Panoxyl 2.5 and intially wasn't that impressed.

I have sensitive skin and after a few days use I looked worse than previously. My skin was very dry, itchy, and flaky. Not good! I noticed a huge improvement after only two uses, with redness and spot size drastically reducing. This led me to over do it and use too much twice a day, which led to massive flaking and redness. I spotted using it for a week or so.

The key it turned out was moderation.

Once my skin got used to panoxyl 2.5 it worked a treat.

My regime was as follows:

1) Wash affected area with mild soap and water. Gently pat dry, or wait until face drys naturally. Washing with soap first seems to make the gel much more effective.

2) Apply gel (it really helps to use very little at first, so your skin builds a resistance to the side effects. You should apply it to the area that has acne, not just the actual pimples.

3)Wait about 10 mins and apply a good mosituriser (very important!), one which suits skin with acne (no alcohol, oil)

It's probably best to do this at night before bed. After a week increase the amount you use, and keep doing so slowly. Eventually your acne should disappear completely. If needed switch to a higher strength Panoxyl.

Note: For those who are scared of trying a product with bp due to the scare stories. I understand the few negative reviews this product has received as the side effects can be servere. I happen to have very sensitive skin though, and this product was useable for me. You just have to use it in moderation first.

Intially there will be redness and flaking, hopefully not to servere but if you stick to the above regime this stuff works. You just have to suffer for a week or two after you start using it when you may well look even worse than before you tried the treatment. But after a month or so you'll be damn glad you perservered.
