I was with scottish power for my gas and electric for a few years on and off (changed suppliers occasionally) but I received nothing but trouble the last 2 times.
When it came to final billing, they completely mucked it up and charged me twice for a quarter and then they kept changing the amount. I had a screen capture showing my zero balance but ended up owing them over £130 - how on earth does that happen. According to SP they had a new system put in, so they couldn't access the old one to update the new one - WHAT!
After a year and a half of phone calls, emails and letters it was still not resolved so I went to the ombudsman who got it sorted out for me. SP executive team had to get involved and clear everything up.
Never, ever will I go back to them - they might be the cheapest but it's not worth the constant stress and being constantly hounded for money that you don't owe.
