“We will not use Vacations to Go for our travel agency...”

Written on: 22/03/2011

We will not use Vacations to Go for our travel agency again.

My cruise was booked and paid in full, 3 months in advance. A week prior to departure we get a call, finding out we were booked on the wrong cruise, and our desired cruise is now full. We were moved to a different cruise, out of a different port, but were forced to pay additional fees.

It took nearly a week before this company could sort out the details of new flight arrangements, I didn't see my new itinerary until 2 days before departure. The flight times were absolutely terrible for us, we were travelling with a small child and had purposefully booked the original vacation based on direct flight availability and minimal airport time. The new flights, which were booked without any consultation by us, were both extremely early in the morning with tight layovers, and extremely late at night with long layovers. We incurred costs up to 600 dollars on this vacation. We were promised transfers to/from the airports, and upon arrival learned that this had in fact NOT been set up. That right there was 150 dollars for roundtrip cab fare. Our bags cost money to check, another 150 dollars. To even get onto this cruise they forced us to either pay 300 dollars, or book with a cruise we had already taken just last year. Not to mention nearly 8 hours waiting in an airport after our cruise had ended - definitely not a travel scenario I would ever have chosen for myself and my family.

I don't feel I should have been made responsibile to keep forking over more money becuase of this company's negligence when they booked me, it was a breach of contract in my opinion that they screwed up our original vacation. Its been two weeks and last I heard was Alan Fox, CEO, emailing promising to look into this swiftly, no reply yet. I will be filing a claim in court after this week if there is no further response, which I expect there won't be
