Like many others I have found this to be an OK unit for the money, (albeit the friction chuck is a bit iffy)until the batteries go off. After an unacceptably short life, they fail to hold a charge. Under the Sale of Goods act, the seller's warranty statement is irrelevant, and, if you still have proof of purchase, even after the 12 months has elapsed, you could still claim that the goods were not of merchantable quality, and suffer from a design or materials defect, providing it could be reasonably expected that the item should work satisfactorily for this length of time. I, like others, no longer have the receipt, so I shall be splitting the battery pack to see if I can source replacement cells
