“We have owned this car for nearly a year now and can...”

written by scr8pe on 02/05/2011

We have owned this car for nearly a year now and can safely assume that the honeymoon period is now long gone (especially since my schoolboy parking error in the local car park saw an end to my protected no claims bonus!!)

The car was bought to replace an aging and out grown Zafira and our main concern was that the Sedona didn't have the neat flex 7 arrangement for the rear most seats. Well, within a week I realised that the Sedona had something that the Zafira didn't in that you can throw the rear seats forward to create instant space without all the hassle of having to send the middle seats forward and then fold the rear seats in to the floor.

Our Sedona is the TS spec and won instant popularity among the children from the test drive with the the DVD player and individual leather seats that allow three full sized seats to the middle row. The arguments are now about who WILL sit in the middle!!

The running costs seem to be much the same as the Zafira apart from the cost of replacement tyres. Being large van sized tyres puts almost half as much again on the cost of a Zafira tyre. Insurance, tax and MPG seem much the same.

Overall we are very pleased with the car and suits our large family so much more than the last car. However, we were lucky to still have six months of the manufacturer warranty left in which we were able to resolve a number of issues. These included anti roll bushes being replaced (I think that what they said, anyway it stopped the knocking from the suspension) and a replacement handle for one of the rear electric sliding doors.

One niggle I do have in the winter is that the heating is too sophisticated and we can sometimes go a whole journey (say 2-3 miles) without once producing warm air to the cab. However, in the summer the climate control was fantastic, even to the very rear seats.

Lastly, I'm a gadget man and love all the toys that comes with this spec, overall I can honestly say that we feel we have a car equivalent to that of a Chrysler Voyager but without the price tag.
