General Comments
TDL (Transducer development limited) Studio 10 speakers:

Purchased these from Richer Sounds (£120) with some trepidation, as another reviewer had already commented, they have had mixed reviews if you do an internet search. On opening the very large boxes, a giant smile spread across my face, they certainly looked OK to me!-

Dimensions per speaker:

109 cm tall (!)

33 cm deep

24 cm wide.

I purchased the beech speakers, which have an integrated plinth in black gloss. This looks like MDF so if you need to add spikes, it should be no problem if you have a drill!.

Drivers:

1 inch soft dome tweeter

4.5 inch bass/ midrange, rubber surround.

2x 5.5 inch rubber surround bass drivers/ radiators.

1x rear firing bass port.

1x gold plated biwirable speaker terminals, accepts banana plugs or bare wires.

Silver plastic 'surrounds' of each driver can be removed exposing the driver screws.

No driver cloth cover is supplied with these speakers, so if you have curious kids/ dogs be careful.

The ratings are Impedance 4-8 ohms and recommended amplifier is 20-125 watts.

Now these speakers were supposed to have an original price tag of £499.99, and I wouldn't pay that for them, but at the current prices in my opinion they are an excellent buy. Large bass heavy rear firing speakers need a reasonably large room to 'breathe', and shouldn't be placed too close to a rear wall or may end up being too boomy.

Sound:

Of course this is very subjective and I am in no way an audiophile, but after a few hours 'bedding in' period I think they sound awesome. The bass is definately there and they seem nicely detailed with great presence. Thats only my opinion and I have not 'auditioned' them compared to lots of other speakers.

If you intend to buy, listen to them first, and bear in mind how much you are paying for a set of TDL badged multi driver speakers!
