Good Points
The 1.8i engine is perfectly adequate and doesn't need worked too hard for satisfying performance.

The Zetec spec is excellent and I'm glad I opted for this over the LX. I'm impressed with the manner in which Ford have raised their game in recent years, and sales figures seem to suggest they're on the right lines. I understand that Ford used the VW Passat, which I've also driven, as it's bench mark. While the Passat is marginally the better car, I think the Mondeo is better value for money, and as long ast he Passat costs that bit more than the Mondeo, I'd opt for the Mondeo every time.

Bad Points
My only (minor) criticism is that the ride is perhaps a little firm, but you get used to it quickly. Residuals are still appalling, but that's the price of success.

General Comments
If you want an all round performer that can take a decent sized family and that doesn't feel likle a compromise, you can't beat the Ford Mondeo. The Mondeo handles superbly and doesn't feel radically different to the Focus. I would definitely recommend this car to anyone. Great trim in the Zetec, too, for toy lovers.
