I have been using Ancestry for several years and it is my benchmark. Once logged in to FindMyPast I do not need to be treated like a Newby - FindMyPast knows exactly how long I have been a member so should treat me accordingly. Using scroll bars to move around a tree is archaic when right click and drag makes the process faster and easier. Person search in a tree takes getting used to, but it works. Hints are OK, but again this Newby approach is irritating. also, the display of BMD and other information takes up far too much space when a simple list rather than the 'official document' pictures would do the job. Adding data to a tree is not intuitive and takes some getting used to. There must be a better way to do this. That said, the 1939 Register is a wonderful set of records for identifying dob after after the 1911 census estimates. The UK data available is excellent and I have found facts on FindMyPast that either do not show or a very difficult to find on Ancestry. I have been disappointed with the scope of Canadian data. Finally, why am I asked to write a review every time I use the site? In short, the data is generally good but the HCI could do with a major re-think.
