Stayed Melasti Beach resort in Legian for 12 nights DEC2010. Our 3rd trip to Bali but 1st time at this resort. Rooms were nice and clean. Sheets changed daily - we had trouble with our drains blocking once but hey, it is Bali and we've had this at other hotels also. Very good size room fitting 2 adults and 2 children nicely. By Australian standards it's certainly not a 4 star resort, but it is Bali after all. Great grounds - fantastic restaurant straight across the road upstairs - thoroughly recommend it. Breakfast at Melasti was very basic bordering on poor and restaurant staff extremely slow and unattentive. Would not recommend eating at the resort restaurant..food is not nice-singing entertainment is like listening to bad karaoke - we had off prawns and had to return it. Another night both pizza and spagetti for the kids had hair in it. We never ate there again for our whole trip. Slug you the 21% tax too which most other restaurants include & they are cheaper too. Disappointed with the pool bar - it's in the deep end of the pool and speakers were right on top of it so very loud. The pool at Bali Garden Resort is the best family pool we've encountered in Bali but their "newly renovated" rooms are way below Melasti standards. Would we stay at Melasti in Legain again? No - rooms nice, but restaurant, pool, pool bar well below expectations.
