“I have been driving a Mercedes C200 Kompressor for...”

written by Jenny1608 on 26/02/2008

Good Points
Goes well around corners and feels very secure on the road. I like the large hatch back boot - can use it for moving large items around. Acceleration pretty good after waiting for compressor to kick in - and satisfying sound too! Easy low maintenance so far.

Bad Points
Driver seat (in my car anyway) too firm - so I get a numb bum after a couple of hundred miles, so don't choose this car for long journeys. Lots of rumbles when driving over normally bad road surface. Lovely and quiet on smooth main roads but really unbearably rattly over bumpy roads and my local dealer can't find what is causing it. My car is 2002 so they may have improved since then. Have to wait a moment for the compressor to kick in when accelerating fast. Shoulder strap rubs - but I think newer ones have an attachment to fix this.

General Comments
I have been driving a Mercedes C200 Kompressor for around 2 years now. Totally dependable and nothing has broken (touch wood) so far.
I think I probably get around 25 miles to the gallon - but it is local driving. Sometimes can get up to 30 on a long drive.
The big heavy door are a pain, is you park on a sloping site they can swing shut and bash you - but it seems that most coupes have long doors like these.
If it was not for my car's rumbles and rattles I would be very happy. A fun car to drive.
