“Good fitter, very bad organisation ”

written by Berry80 on 09/12/2016

I nave just recently had my workshop door and window install by Safe-style UK and I was hoping to give them a 58 review but the end of the whole transaction was very poorly handled. The salesman came out and was not overly pushy, although he used the general dropping the price tactic we agreed on a sensible price and for the work to be undertaken. The surveyor came out a few days later and was a very nice, efficient chap. Got the measurements and the rest done in about 30 minutes. Then a couple of days later we booked in the fitting to take place between 8 and 10 am. This is where it went wrong. I booked half day off work for the fitting, but the morning of work to be done the fitter called that he would get to me around lunch time. So I phoned the head office up and asked them to re-schedule because it was not what we had agreed on. I was told that it was not possible and that the customer should be aware of that the work had to be carried out on the day when it is book. The man on the phone said that the fitter could not get to me as there was traffic jam on the M5, but the fitter left a message on my voicemail saying that he had another job in the morning and so he was going to be late. This is then old the lying about arrival, prices, etc. started to happen. The inspector came at 1pm to check to work of the fitter but the fitter still was not there. The chap said that he was going to give me a discount as the work was not carried out when it was supposed to. The finally the fitter arrived who seemed to be unaware of the fact that the work had to be carried out in the morning. I must say that the fitter was excellent. He was very professional, friendly and a window fitting machine that ran on tea and coffee. The company should be proud to have people like him (Stu) working for them. When the fitter arrive the inspector changed his tone and said that he could give me no discount and he is outside of his remit but he will give me discount on future work. So, I said, stupidly, OK, let's book in another meeting to look at some other windows which need replacing. We agreed on 10 am next morning. I had a phone call later that day to confirm the meeting. Then next morning and I had another phone call asking me when I was available. I told the chap that it was arranged for 10 am, but as my partner was not around he re-scheduled it for a week later. After thinking about the whole thing and the fact that again I stayed home in the morning waiting for a meeting that was cancelled I phone back and cancelled the appointment and explained my reasons. I had no apologies! I gave 4* for value for money as it is not bad and the quality of the door/window fitted is good but you need to get through a lot of bull %^&$ in the process...
