I've been using a penny talk card, bought in a store, to call the UK whilst I am here in the US. I have only had a couple of occasions the call could not get through due to busy networks, but the call quality once connected has been excellent. It's a fairly simple process really, read the instructions CAREFULLY, and you will be fine. Also be aware of the 49c per call fee, but if you're talking for a long time it gets diluted into the overall cost of the call, on average I have had calls to the UK for 3c per minute. Compared to my UK cellphone network which would charge me over $2 a minute to call back I'm delighted with it.
