“The worst airline I have ever come across in the past...”

Written on: 21/09/2010

The worst airline I have ever come across in the past 30 years of flying.

A total waste of money and appalling customer service.

Arrived in plenty of time to catch the flight(well before the stipulated 45mins check-in closure) but the desk had decided to close an hour earlier for no apparent reason. We told the check-in girl that we were still within the required time limit for checking in and she reluctantly agreed that we were right. She phoned the ground staff/baggage handlers and even the AirAsia captain, but none of them could be bothered to re-open what shouldn't have even been closed. The upshot is that we missed our flight from Malaysia to Singapore and as a result, our connecting flight in Singapore to Hong Kong, all because of lazy, incompetent staff at Air Asia. It's only a small island airport with one terminal, one lounge and you even walk out to the plane across the tarmac because it's that tiny! I could have walked my luggage there myself!! Of course, no refund was available although I am writing a letter to the management about my experiences.

To add insult to injury, the Air Asia plane was still sitting on the tarmac one hour later. In this time we had managed to book four new flights at great cost (£600 Sterling) with MAS, had a coffee and food etc and went through to departures and sat alongside all the people who were flying on our original AirAsia flight! ABsolutely pathetic!

It would be interesting to have known what their reaction had been had we just turned up at the airport and wanted to book that flight. At the sniff of money they probably would have been all smiles and eager to push up through departures.

Air Asia are a con. They take your money and offer a very poor service in return. They are the RyanAir of Asia. They were keen to rebook us new flights (at full cost) but I saw the MAS desk and went there instead. At least MAS are a reputable airline. I will never fall into the Air Asia trap again.... it's not worth all the things that could go wrong.
