Nicely set out, friendly staff. Book your excursions as soon as you get there, these fill up quickly. (One coachload!!! Silly really, they could do two!)
Not enough sun beds, some very selfish people.
Pegasos Palace Hotel, Sarigerme - We arrived at the end of July. After turning up at the airport I was suprised to find that you really do have to pay Ten Pounds for your Visa just to get in. The staff at the airport look very scary but are polite. They have guns too, so no arguing!
The hotel is very very nicely placed and set out.
When we arrived we had to fill out a registration form before we were given our hotel room swipe card. The porters are insistant on taking your bags to your room and some do expect a tip. British coins are not really accepted in the banks in Turkey so make sure you tip the at least 2 Lira, roughly 80 pence.
There is a hotel shop, Not run by First Choice, that can be very expensive when charging for sweets and chocolates. Try not to pay them in pounds, they can be very crafty. We bought a large bag of crisps, large bag of M&M's, and a medium size chocolate bar and were charged six pounds!!!!
There are plenty of swimming pools but not enough sunbeds. There were people laying towels on them and going out for at least 4-5 hours and then returning to their sunbeds! We were very lucky as some people were nice enough to let us have one of theirs so that we could at least put our towels on it!!
Sarigerme is a lovely little town, you can bargain in some of the shops, but they do have to make a living. I think if you pay in Euro you do and can get a better deal. There's a lovely little souvenier shop in town owned by a lovely lady. She lets you browse and cuts you a deal too. Loves a cheeky one, and adores children!! We did well from her, went back to say bye but she was out for the day.
The excursions are reasonably priced by First Choice, but some of these are done by outside tours. The Turkish mud baths were very exciting, you get all covered in MUD (looks like clay), then dry off in the sun, then shower it off and hit the springs - 39C - just like a bath. It's sulphur-based also so no SILVER or it'll go black!!! Gold is fine. you then go off down the river, stop for lunch, (supplied at a riverside restaurant!) Free!! But, you pay for drinks. Then you see the tombs of the kings on the hills; then off to turtle beach!! The water is lovely and the beach is sandy.
The beach at the Pegasos is rather grey! Not that nice but walkable. Water sports have to be paid for - banana boat, parsailing!
The diving centre (padi) do scuba tasters at another beach, this is a must! If you want to become a qualified scuba diver, you need to complete a course, done at the swiming pools then in the open water. Be warned, it's very different!
Rooms were cleaned, but the floors were not swept, toilet rolls were not always supplied, but they do give them to you when asked with a smile!
Entertainment is mostly for kids and once the kids sign up for clubs, the reps don't go around asking why some kids were not even going, my 10 year old signed up but was a bit scared of going...not one rep tried to get her to even try! She enjoyed the pools and slides anyhow.
You can also enjoy and entertainment at the Tropical hotel next door. The waterslides in that one are bigger and saster!!!
With a bit more thought by First Choice, this could be one the the best hotels they have to offer!!
Not enough adult entertainment after 12, all inclusive lasts until 12, then you must pay for it!
Beach party is on a Thursday at 10. You get a foam machine and you can join the LIMBO contest! Drinks go on till 1am, I think?
I won't be going to that hotel gain with First Choice. I've heard Marmaris is even better!!!
